Nic will be discussing the animated film Black is Beltza, directed by Fermin Muguruza @muguruzafm , which follows freedom fighter Manex’s journey through revolution and racial discrimination. A graduate student at UCLA, Smith’s research focuses on how the dual impacts of globalization and the end of ETA’s armed activity are reflected in the cultural production of the Basque Country since 2011.
